hey, @fixedprofilefollow here! I was a coder not so long ago, and while I search for new tags for myself, why not searching for new ways to connect with people too?
Same! Didn't quit, but I don't think I'm a coder anymore. I don't know if I'm an AI orchestrator, harness programmer, dark factory manager or whatever title we come up next, but it's been a while since I wrote my last LoC.
What about you? Saw some Pi on your feed. How are you navigating this?
I just incorporated AI into my workflow. A new tool I am meant to master. The nature of what I do has not fundamentally changed, only the process of how to do it.
Ironically I don't use Pi at work (only Claude Code was allowed there), but it is what I enjoy using on my personal projects. I love how flexible it is.
My 3yr old woke up at 5am this morning crying - not terribly uncommon - and when I went in there to check on her she just said "daddy's here" without looking at me and went back to sleep
hey creator, this place is nice, posts look organic and the no javascript, I love it, with that said @stagasprofilefollowcreative technologist
creator of textlog have you consider NOT opening the API? and have a 1 way to come here and enjoy it? the rationale being that API also opens the door to the slopai?
I laughed at this. I'm all for people crafting their own tools, but it really feels like everyone's reinventing the same handful of wheels for agentic development.
I forgot that I was at work and did my big sneeze, not the work sneeze. The one where a startled deer looks straight into the camera, which then zooms out to a flock of pigeons taking off, and a crow makes a warning noise.
Someone dropped something in the adjacent lab. I hope it wasn't my fault.
For 30 years, productivity sky-rocketed with the advancement of automation and computing. Meanwhile, a decline in longevity was observed, correlated to sleep depravation. Productivity improvement goes to the owners class' pockets, sleep benefits the workers health.
For 30 years, productivity skyrocketed through automation, yet longevity plummeted as a direct result of sleep deprivation. While these gains accrue to the owner class, sleep remains an undervalued element of the worker's health. We are trading life expectancy for chump change.
That said, in Canada working class started loosing life expentancy for the 3rd year in a row, and WHO figures show a decline in improvement of life expentancy globally. But hey, I am just a no-one on the internet spewing bs :)
a decline in the improvement of life expectancy isn't the same as a decline in life expectancy, it's just that it's improving less fast now, we might be reaching biological limits however?
We tought for years that there was a biological ceiling for sprinters or marathon runners for example, with research backing it, but every one record was shattered. I tend to be cautious of biological explanations.
You don't love writing YAML all day and debugging stupid pipelines that download the same binaries thousands of times a day while wondering why we spend so much on bandwidth?

A credit union wants to get their own data out of a vendor's online system. Vendor wants $160,000. I wrote a #pythonnotesfollow script with #Playwrightnotesfollow to download the data just as though a user would. It's going to run for about 6 weeks to download around 250k records and 70GB of images.
you could split to buckets like alphanumerically and parallelize it if you don't want to wait that long. Probably need to launch a few instances but still cheaper lol.
The slowness is intentional. I wanted to make it look more like a user doing it than a script so it doesn't set off any alarms. I have it waiting from 1 to 3 seconds between clicks to slow it down. :-) So far so good!

Ordered JBL Charge 6, waiting for delivery today. Will mount into my bike and will listen to music while commuting 25km to the office. I'm a victim of marketing, seeing an ad, buying stuff.
Previously bought Do Nothing Club cap after friends visiting us and we discussed it while eating pizza; and then my wife got an AD on Instagram. Meta is listening for conversations to sell ads.
When I write I just add html files to the swiley.net folder in public.swiley.net. Sometimes I syndicate elsewhere (I was doing Substack for a while before Notes took over.)
