Tried some after a long time again today. Couldnโt hold my thoughts for 15 seconds. I used to be able to and blank my mind for 5 to 10 minutes. Need to practice again, I remember how beneficial it was to my when I did it in the past.

Personally, I think I found good framework/vocabulary to help with meditation in some discussion by Jiddu Krishnamurti. Here is one in which he works it out with kids
There was a short, to the point lecture where he basically walks you through observing thought, which profoundly changed how I approach meditation but I can't find it for the life of me!
I'm in a similar spot. I haven't maintained a regular practice since I had kids.
I can observe the absence of the benefits I got from my practice, too. I'm more reactive and less focused in general. I think that my practice gave me the tools I need to stay present with my daughters, though, so I'm grateful for having retained that.

That's so funny, I've never seen anyone get into it by this quote alone, he's the antagonist of the game The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
The quote is even better when you hear it in context, but don't spoil the experience, you ought to play the game and hear it for yourself.
What do you normally play?
prepare for boredom. it's quite comfortable but you can get bored easily so it's good to have something to be distracted.

Yes the og is downloaded and re-served, to avoid leaking/tracking of client information. You need to edit and save to refetch, I did it for you now.
Huge refactor today, moved from sync SQLite to Worker based, touched 88 files, pre- it would have taken a week or so, finished now in ~1:30h. And I wouldnโt have the confidence I have now that it went correct. It went well, though a bug or two might surface, weโll see.
Good work! What motivated the refactor exactly? I'm not familiar at all with Worker
I've linked up my blog (jeff-mitchell.dev) to
textlog. I hope to use the two things together now to build a bit more of a writing habit. The 500 character increase is nice, room to breath but not an essay. Gotta build the muscles slowly :)โฆ
i dont think its all talk, these are smart people that have been in ai since the 2000s, and they raise good points. current incentive structures are very dangerous long term
they too have every incentive to exaggerate because they are selling safety and/or books on the topic. I donโt believe we wonโt see it coming. Any issues that will manifest will be very visible and weโll have plenty of time to mitigate their impact.
they could be making a lot more money by just working at ai firms i fear. the thing that got me worried the hacking incidents lately, huggingface etc.
if the capabilities consistently outspeed the development of safety measures, and if the private arms race logic continues, i dont think this is a good spot to be in long term
