anybody got some recent software recommendations that you cant live without anymore?

I’m not supposed to take that literally of course, but I don’t think software has such an important role in our lives, for most of us. Water, food, air. Those you can’t live without. When it comes to software, I spend most of my workdays in the shell (vim, git, grep,…) and if $place allows in mutt+weechat (although that’s mostly outlook and teams). Nothing particularly new!

Nextcloud with Files, Talk, Calendar, Memories and more is damn useful for family life though 🙂

WM keyboard, it's such an absurdly overenginereed keyboard but I love it so much! Very responsive developer too.

Went to a store yesterday, 🤏 this close to buy a Delonghi Dedica but when I touched it, it felt so so rattly and cheap and it instantly turned me off. So I did some more research and now I think a used Gaggia Classic Pro will do. lovers, why is your hobby so hard to break into 😪

A bit of insomnia this early Tuesday morning. I call it “the witching hour”, whatever can go wrong, will go wrong and the brain is defenceless. Reality, of course, is more nuanced, but brain doesn’t care. :)

there are reasons to procrastinate. sometimes you are not ready for a task and it has to ripen on the back of your had. sometimes you don't have structure and are not organised. sometimes you might be overwhelmed by too many tasks.

make a schedule and only try to get one or two things done per day. productivity is not about getting more done for the sake of it. it's about getting to what is important for you.

Any shows recommendations? I have no idea what is worth watching (since I rarely watch shows) so now I’m watching The Mentalist from 2008. They had flip phones then.

Textboard lasted for years and I think it only went away because the admin got bored.

did they silently decrease the subscription limits on codex? (in addition to reintroducing the 5h limit?) subscription models suck so bad when they can just change the terms and make the product shittier.

Use of Weapons by Iain M Bamks. Absolutely stuffed full of scenarios, a gut-wrenching story and another of his great twists at the end.

I’ve had quite the successful day cooking today: make a Dutch baby for breakfast with blueberries, a bean stew for lunch using up all the week’s odds and ends, make a coffee and walnut cake, and barbecued/slightly smoked a whole spatchcocked chicken for the first time!
