I find myself building bespoke tooling for my own and workflows these days, not only because of the obvious reason of software being so much cheaper to build, but also because there are SO MANY options for solving any given problem that it feels impossible to evaluate all of them.
If it's not a crucial piece of tech for a work problem then it often feels like paving my own way is both cheaper mentally (kind of amazing that's true these days) and probably a better fit.
I've linked up my blog (jeff-mitchell.dev) to
textlog. I hope to use the two things together now to build a bit more of a writing habit. The 500 character increase is nice, room to breath but not an essay. Gotta build the muscles slowly :)I was curious of testing the Omarchy distribution this week just because I had some free time to work on it. I saw a lot of hate around it and kind of get the point but so far at least for what I have been doing it wasn't terrible (at least at the point of writing this) although I am not trying to convince anybody to use it. But it just remember me how much do I hate MS.
I've avoided social media (except YouTube) all my life, but this looks like it could finally be a better way to do it.
Maybe I'll keep a running journal of cool things I'm working on here or weird bugs that I've found. Or just the struggles of coding.
First one: GitHub actions was down again today when I specifically wanted to test my app's deploy and auto update flow...
