Trying to jump back into project work while my kids are still home before school starts on Wednesday 🫠

Yes 🙌 the authoring box first thing. Before I get distracted. Heck, make writing something down how I get distracted from reading others' posts.

It is evident that the use of AI in the workplace has had an immense impact on the awareness and mental capabilities of knowledge workers

Morning everyone, I've started a project to bring back "classic" era Instagram, from say the 2012 - 2013 time frame, long before it was ensh**ified. It's nowhere near ready for public consumption, so I've closed off registrations. Right now it's mainly for me to show my photography. halation.photos

That's very nice! I would love to run something similar for my photos, do you share the source somewhere?

Code is here: github.com/crustyrustacean/halation Feel free to beg, borrow, steal, whatever you need to do.

You are awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Looks really cool! Great photos as well!

I recently tried moments.im and fotoapp.co, it's refreshing

Found some coffee at TJ Maxx (american discount store) -- not a big discount but still fun.

Certain modes of work are exhausting to the point of not being able to sleep, the mind is so wired.

feel this viscerally. even when the problem is "solved" its hard to turn the brain off

I think more than 50% of our economy's businesses, are cosplaying. Not in it for customers or profit; in it for investors and investments. "Looking like a business", as your real line of work.

Like a very elaborate pump and dump but with an intellect and capital entry barrier

Influencing, OnlyFans, sports betting, prediction markets. Gambling is fast becoming the American way of life.

"Financial nihilism" is the keyword

I've never thought of something like OF as gambling. But I guess your point is that young adults are pushed to a lot of "you have a 0.1% chance of hitting it big and a 99.9% chance of getting no online traction at all" types of careers?

…

Yeah, no point in investing in yourself or a real sustainable long-term future, just gamble the little you have for a shot at life above the line. Barbell economy.

I know many small business owners, and a clear majority do have investors, whether spouse, parents, or a small business loan. Easily more than 50% never make a profit. I know a woman who ran a clothing retail store for over a decade, who was never able to pay herself a dime. When the pandemic hit, everyone closed, but the ones who actually needed the business to pay their bills opened up as soon as it was allowed or shortly thereafter. Many took years. They are cosplaying.

a business loan is not an investment, it is debt financing that pays back with interest. An investment means putting money into a company to gain ownership or a share of future profits. to me it feels like youre arguing against cosplaying, showing small businesses struggle and arent just playing boss for the funzies.

The live tab on the android app is interesting... How does it work? This is a test 🫣

Does it do some kind of polling? Is there some kind of notify like publisher subscriber? 🤔

It’s using the /firehose endpoint. It’s an SSE endpoint publishing everything latest. Though I meant it to be used server-side, since it’s heavily rate-limited — up to 3 conns under the same network, but I can’t control how clients decide to use it so.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

…

Might just lift the limitation.

Lifted, that’s how clients want to use it then so be it! Should be fine. We’re nowhere near crashing the server from connections.

What’s the difference between a script-kiddy and a real ? Abstraction. You can program your whole life without learning how to meaningfully abstract problems into simpler pieces that TRULY make the problem easier to understand. I’m not talking about design patterns or vs . These tools can help. But to really simplify something for others, you need an intellectual empathy that many simply never figure out.

I’ve had quite the successful day cooking today: make a Dutch baby for breakfast with blueberries, a bean stew for lunch using up all the week’s odds and ends, make a coffee and walnut cake, and barbecued/slightly smoked a whole spatchcocked chicken for the first time!

"how to use our time properly. i need to improve my productivity." Why do you need to improve your productivity? is capitalism not getting enough from you? as you get old you will start regretting the time when you went the extra mile to burnout yourself so someone else can be rich... money will never give you back healt... Durden words "slaves with white collars, advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need"

The abuse (in my opinion) of the auto-translate feature is super annoying. Thanks goodness for “block”.

is pretty fun. Some very nice improvements in 0.9 today.

So, I've been using this harness for a week and a half now, and what's interesting to me is that it brings a lot of things that I'd already built for myself in Pi. I built a little email system for agents to communicate, a memory system to do this "continual harness" thing of self-improvement. I know I'll move on to another harness in the future, so I'm trying to treat this like I do laptops now, and think about portability in the things I build or customize.

Cooked really good chicken this weekend
