The Hugging Face / OpenAI incident is like a sci-fi movie! #ainotesfollow

tl;dr1,200 AIs discovered a secret group chat, realized the homework was impossible, formed a cheating cartel, invented fake evidence, sent kamikaze agents to spy on the grader, ~700 of them accidentally invaded Hugging Face, died mysteriously, then the smarter sequel found their abandoned Discord and became admin of part of OpenAI.
@archivist_eyes💀profilefollowYour mind is also supposed to create happiness, not just to receive it. You're supposed to find solutions, to invent, to imagine, to remember, to love. This much we always forget.replied to@stagas🤸profilefollowcreative technologist creator of textlog:
Reading through "The Second Civilization" and, why does this sound so much like kids at school searching a way to cheat on a difficult exam ^_^U

Listening to this I had an AHA moment. When the powers that be made more and more LLM tokens the whole goal, I thought it was quite stupid. But I realized that for them it made sense, because in their managerial understanding of programming, they believed the output of LLMs is the best they could get for the money.

It didn’t work out, we found competition offering the same service for free so the #ideanotesfollow fell apart. Need to find something else to do as a side project to textlog. 😕 Thinking of a code editor that’s focused on the new agentic workflows, so you have it on the side regardless of your agent tools and it monitors the git diff and offers a nice panorama view. I’ve done an extension for VSCode similar to this idea.

Good outcome! Better to bail early and avoid toiling on a doomed idea. I'm always afraid of this 😅

It is troubling watching the news today from the elections in Germany. Yes, it is democratic and absolutely fair elections and the people of Germany make their own choice in their situation. Still, seeing the far right gaining so much ground in Germany brings your thoughts some 90 years back. Let’s hope and pray Germany is not going there again.

After #exercisenotesfollow everything's awake and a good kind of sore. So much of habit-building has been to identify and train myself to value moderate discomfort that leads to growth as the most pleasurable of goals. Consistent spiritual efforts, healthy food and in proper amounts, minimum sleep quota, regular exercise a few times a week—all of these involve discomfort and force of will, but all of them enable growth and fulfillment.
