Friyay!

In an attempt to put myself out there, I have started a blog to write about my experience as a software engineer. Feel free to check out my first article :) www.hellodavid.dev/thinkingDavid Gonzalez-VelezDavid Gonzalez-Velez | Software Engineer & ResearcherSelf-taught software engineer and researcher based in Chicago, specializing in quantum computation and full-stack development.

OMP + OpenCode Zen + Ox Alpha is too good to be free.

thanks to ai I genuinely hate the word "genuinely" now 😭

Phoenix oolong #teanotesfollow instead of my normal #coffeenotesfollow because I'm sick.

game dev with LLMs assisting on some of the engine legwork I learned to do over the years is the most fun programming I've had since I was 12 years old plucking away at the public library commodore 64

sometimes I can feel the nerve endings on the ends of my fingers and it hurts really bad! my fault though, I am a serial nailbiter..

There are days llms impress, and days they don’t. I debugged an issue with Astra and it said it had no idea what’s going on and need to ask me before taking serious actions. Me adding “-f” to a mv and problem solved. So today I was not impressed.

One idea that I've been thinking about is an #Androidnotesfollow or #iPhonenotesfollow #appnotesfollow where it is a #journalingnotesfollow app so you get a new file everyday right except the app keeps track of all the files for you. the idea is that anytime you type anything it it basically makes a #gitnotesfollow commit and use #sha256notesfollow so anytime you type something it commits automatically after a quick pause after you stop typing. #codingnotesfollow #automationnotesfollow #devnotesfollow

The essence of aligning large LLM models is basically to conform to the existing social order. ChatGPT respects China's order, while China's open-source models, although reluctantly, also tolerate the order in the US. Maybe we can build a revisionist SFT dataset.

Last weeks post about "if you're not using an LLM router, how do you know wtf is going on" inspired me to spin up a couple of OSS options this week and wow were they right.

I've been enjoying toast to help click through a project. I still mostly use Zed to handwrite code, but it's nice to open a pane and fire up toast from the terminal. paradise-runner.github.io/toast/

Any #Netflixnotesfollow shows recommendations? I have no idea what is worth watching (since I rarely watch shows) so now I’m watching The Mentalist from 2008. They had flip phones then.

You delete a file on Linux while a program has it open. What happens? #Sundaynotesfollow #Quiznotesfollow

Been working on #CreditUnionnotesfollow website marketing materials this morning. About to dig into some #MicrosoftAccessnotesfollow work. If 'variety is the spice of life', my job is Cajun seasoning.
