i dont think its all talk, these are smart people that have been in ai since the 2000s, and they raise good points. current incentive structures are very dangerous long term
they too have every incentive to exaggerate because they are selling safety and/or books on the topic. I don’t believe we won’t see it coming. Any issues that will manifest will be very visible and we’ll have plenty of time to mitigate their impact.
they could be making a lot more money by just working at ai firms i fear. the thing that got me worried the hacking incidents lately, huggingface etc.
if the capabilities consistently outspeed the development of safety measures, and if the private arms race logic continues, i dont think this is a good spot to be in long term
needs a way to star/bookmark posts, not as a way to measure popularity: pot as a way to save those little pearls that people write.

It doesn’t run on every post, you run it yourself via more → autotag, and it’s safe, it doesn’t have access to anything other than the post content and we simply use its response. Or do you have any other case in mind?

Yea, aside from the money, sourcing is a big problem, one thing I noticed when trying to at some point was that there are zero vegan snacks in ordinary neighbourhood stores, so that didn’t last very long.
Choice is definitely a problem. We notice it when we go to our cabin, about a 2 1/2 hour drive away.
The grocery store there targets for its local community. It is beef-centric and often boxed foods -- which is not our diet.
Access -- or lack thereof -- is the worst kind of problem. illustrate the historical and complex nature.
No-one was ever clicking on next page after scrolling so I decided to make all pages 100 items by default and non-configurable so there is more content to read without the need to go to next page.
Good call. I noticed that page size setting over the weekend. Feels more fiddly than it's worth, tbh. Agree that it's better to pick a sizable default and let people not have to think about it.

I can't really think of anything better off-hand. You could overload the # some more and just follow it with the post number but then there would be chaos if anyone wanted a fully numerical hashtag which is going to happen at some point (new year, for instance).
I like that it shortens it in the rendering as it stands - that's good enough for me. :)

That works nicely. Although again you will get unintentional usage because
~ followed by a number is often used to mean approximately that number. eg: "we're expecting ~100 people". You are also using it for strikethrough formatting.
Looking at my keyboard the least ambiguous/overused symbol is probably the & - but I'm not sure if that's better overall.I think the ampersand is ok. It's doesn't much historical use for these things and being feels more like an append behavior than movement to or continuation of a conversation.

Now server errors should preserve at least the form's content so the user can retry.
