I am a remote worker, and has been for 4 years now. It works great. But the owner of the office I've been renting have sold the building, and the new owner has different visions. I have to constantly be working or I get very agitated. Is this #workaholismnotesfollow? I donโ€™t like entertainment other than background music while working and maybe before going to sleep I watch a series on Netflix to relax. Thatโ€™s when Iโ€™m on my introvert mode. When Iโ€™m extrovert (Iโ€™m ambivert) I have to constantly be around people and outdoors, I get agitated indoors, canโ€™t work at all and definitely canโ€™t watch anything. How do these two personalities co-exist in me?

I think a trusted piece of software such as your operating system should be in charge of managing permissions. For example, I believe with Wayland on gnome you no longer need to promise you aren't secretly taking screenshots of the whole monitor and shipping it somewhere because to do that Wayland requires you to get user permission.

I was thinking along the same line, but then if it is not a gated system - thereโ€™s always ways for software to sidestep these - just going down to a lower level. The other issue I have is if the system or software asks or notifies all the time - for every tiny user action!

I have tiktok and instagram on this phone and both of them have no notification permissions. I'd rather miss all notifications for these apps than be bothered unnecessarily. it can wait until I open the app ๐Ÿคฃ yes, it should be gated in the sense studying locally needs to be root, not in the sense that the apple app store or Google play store reviewers need to review each update.
What is the exact definition of an IDE? JetBrain's products are as good as ever, in my opinion, but people have definitely made non-IDEs into big, hulking behemoths with tons of plugins. If anything, maybe "just an editor" is dead?
I think they mean the transition that all IDE's are making towards an agentic interface, hiding the code completely as humans will not have to interact with it since the AI will be doing a better job at everything, even auditing it.

I gotta confess, I vibe codet a Kirigami-based application and I liked it. I am a anti AI person, and cannot wait for the bubble to burst. Yet I see it can empower people that do not know a tech stack, and get good enough results out of it. However i also see, it makes you lazy (and frustrates as soon as it gets somewhat complicated). It seems it is being adopted everywhere. This is scary... if it becomes necessary, will you be able to find a job where they don't require you to use AI?
I lament the death of programming as an economically-viable craft, but am also leveraging the new tools to build things and to try to stay competitive. I think we have yet to find out how agentic coding will really make sense for companies once the costs stop being subsidized. But it's clearly not going anywhere.
