Someone can create enormous value while their manager controls the narrative around that value. Conversely, a manager can conceal structural problems because the people capable of exposing them depend on that same manager for evaluation and promotion

If you close your eyes and imagine some text, why it looks like ai-generated?

Frustrated with my phone usage again tonight, I uninstalled several pointless and time-consuming apps. It’s a cycle I repeat every few months. During this cycle, I wasted a lot of time on one of those puzzle-matching games. I'm considering switching to Ubuntu Touch at this point

i just got home from the day trip to Zaragoza, it's late and I got to wake up early tomorrow (・・;) How am I visibly the most tired, but I'm the youngest? I need more stamina ( ￣▽￣)

Just trying to see how this works

playtested my game at an event last night. so much fun to see people curiously prod at mysteries i constructed, and stubbornly battle its challenges. oh no i might actually have to finish this one

Awesome! I'm reading right now and you've captured the vibe.

ah nice, i’ll have to check that one out is it a fun read?

…

I’m enjoying it. tbh I never played the game, but his journal entries are a fun view into the mind, insecurities and all, of someone building something they’re excited about.

Can't say I'm surprised there are . Related: stop platforming DHH.

Still in Quebec City, which has a pretty sizable street population once you come down from the hill where the tour groups go. We had to basically step over some guys sharing a glass pipe on the only stairs up the hill yesterday; I have teenagers so this bothered me. Later, my youngest and I were talking and he says "why don't the police do something about that?"

He's showing me the first season of Mob Psycho, so I say You know how Mob's little brother Ritsu wants to clean up the school so there are no people who will bully Mob, and so he allies with the power hungry student council president and frames all the bullies to get them expelled and the whole situation eventually becomes really corrupt and authoritarian and Ritsu feels to blame even though he started out with good intentions? Life is really like that...

…

And so my guess is that Quebec is in the portion of the cycle that's reacting to harsh and unfair policing of the past. Someday a mayoral candidate will get elected on the promise of cleaning it all up and the cycle will begin again. Anyway Mob Psycho is a good show.

it's unfortunate these kinds of obvious non-starters for a functional society can only ever be discussed on both extremes of the political spectrum. It shouldn't be a question that degeneracy has no place in public settings.

I'm about to start a 30+ hrs longer train journey, If you have any advice, please share it.

prepare for boredom. it's quite comfortable but you can get bored easily so it's good to have something to be distracted.

Enjoy it! I am jealous, really. Let us know how it goes!

perfect time to sleep.

id bring a book and turn my phone off

Damn, that actually sounds like a genuinely nice experience. I'd recommend books, and a battery pack or two (not sure if there's electricity available), a blanket (unless you got a sleeping cabin) and comfortable clothes.

New in agenttop.dev : panels open in your . 🤹‍♂️ • Any panel can now split into its own pane, live, beside the table. • Works with all the popular multiplexers: , , 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝘁𝘆. • run a panel on its own: agent-top mcp, agent-top slow, agent-top fails, agent-top advice. ➕ The # MCP panel also lists the orphaned MCP processes that outlived their agent and are still eating memory.

Finished, well you never really finish, setting up fedora + i3 on my ThinkPad X280. Such a lovely form-factor, & the full-screen/tiling approach for the 12.3" display works like a dream.

brings so many issues. It really accelerates. Not only the good parts but also the bad parts. Combine this with a product person that doesn't even know what a refinement is. I'm 41, maybe I'll study to pivot, maybe I'll get into trading. I can't handle it anymore.

……

what is a refinement? honest question - I'm restructuring our refinements now. Like having group of people discussing 5 items in an hour gives little chances any one of them will be addressed properly, unless they are trivial.

Architect/lead have a pre-refinement with product to clear 80% of the obvious questions. We share an agenda, devs can ask questions async. In the refinement product presents, we design a solution draft. 15 minutes/item. This doesn't work if product is incompetent and everything is AI-slopped.

Thank you, like!👍

This is a very silly thing to be doing in 2026, but I finally tried some Quake 1 recently. Pretty cool, it's amazing how much it really does just end up feeling like Doom in 3D.

Since I played both Doom and Quake 2 back in the day, it does feel like I've finally bridged that gap, to where I think I understand what people mean when they talk about Romero's influence in the design.

Another thing I think it makes really clear is just how much room-over-room changes the way the game spaces feel, even if no one's actively thinking about that while they play.

Guess we're doing Halloween stuff on sale everywhere now 🎃

hello world!

hello tim!

only when the bullied attacks the bully, it's when the teacher intervenes I have a theory that it's because they fear the weaker one that has been suffering and bottling emotions for days, weeks, or even months. once it's unbottled, the bullied won't stop until they're sure they won't be bullied again, and that could be bad... for the school and the teacher.

might be true

…

I said this based on my experiences being bullied at school and seeing videos of bullied kids reacting. I don't know if I'm right, but there may be something there

I had never been able to release my pent up anger in a good way, oh well! this definitely won't back fire in my adult years!
