The job market feels like it's been run over by a truck. What's the play here? Anything automated/streamlined (job platforms, LinkedIn, etc.) feels like a dead end. Messaging people, networking and so on seems like the only reasonable way, and that's a hustle all on its own.

i think the best you can get right now is qwen 3.8 27B. youre gonna need 24 gigs of some fast memory though, i heard theres decent quantizations that can also make it run on 16. im quite excited about open/local models, but theres big investment overhead with the prices right now

You might be able to try out colibri, its quite good and the models are a bit better. I am unable to connect any of the cli agents to do things with it though, probably due to context limits, but try it out. OlMoe is the lightest

did they silently decrease the subscription limits on codex? (in addition to reintroducing the 5h limit?) subscription models suck so bad when they can just change the terms and make the product shittier.

Iโ€™m not supposed to take that literally of course, but I donโ€™t think software has such an important role in our lives, for most of us. Water, food, air. Those you canโ€™t live without. When it comes to software, I spend most of my workdays in the shell (vim, git, grep,โ€ฆ) and if $place allows in mutt+weechat (although thatโ€™s mostly outlook and teams). Nothing particularly new!

Choice is definitely a problem. We notice it when we go to our cabin, about a 2 1/2 hour drive away. The grocery store there targets #foodnotesfollow for its local community. It is beef-centric and often boxed foods -- which is not our diet. Access -- or lack thereof -- is the worst kind of problem. Added #meta tag โ€” use it whenever you want to talk about the site itself, and these posts will not show up in all, any or the postโ€™s page. Only those that follow the tag or the person will see these posts in my feed or in post pages. This is to keep the site clear of meta discussions which dominated a lot at this early stage and I think were annoying to many people. So this is the last meta without the #meta tag youโ€™ll see unless u follow. Iโ€™ll try to tag every post I find.
